I typically book out 3-4 hrs for the first session. This begins with a consultation, what to expect from today's session, mapping your shape, numbing, tattooing and aftercare review.
Every client has their own unique needs based on their skin type, so I like to take my time to make sure you get the best healed results possible!
The Perfecting Session tends to go a lot faster as the foundation has already been laid, and you’ve been informed of the whole process at the prior appointment.
-
It is my priority for you to feel comfortable and relaxed through the entire process.
I begin tattooing by lightly opening the skin with a microscopic needle. This feels like a light scratch. Once the skin is open I apply my favorite numbing product that will quickly numb the area we are working. Within minutes you are numb and beginning to drift off while you listen to music or a podcast of your choice.
I check in with my clients frequently to make sure they are comfortable at all times.
I’ve had multiple clients, tell me they almost fell asleep. 😍

Microblading, Combination Brows and Ombré Shading are tattoo services. Any time pigment is implanted under the skin, and lasts more than 6 weeks, it’s considered to be permanent/tattooing. They do fade softly over time and require refresher or touch up sessions, on average, every 12-24 months. It is impossible to determine how long pigment will remain in the skin for years to come. Everyone retains pigment differently and fades at different rates. For some clients it may fade away completely, and for some it may not. Skin type, lifestyle, and skincare products can all effect the longevity of cosmetic tattoos.
*Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently and a follow-up appointment is recommended at 6-8 weeks where we can asses your pigment retention and make any changes necessary. People with lighter hair, correction work or sparse eyebrows may require more than one follow-up to reach their desired look at an additional cost.

Yes! Following this Pre Appointment Care is very important:
-Discontinue the use of retin-a, retinol, tretinoin products 2 weeks before your appointment
-Do not drink alcohol the night before or day of your appointment
-Do not drink caffeine or energy drinks before your appointment
-Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 48 hours before treatment.
-Do not take omega3 (fish oil) 1 week before treatment.
-Do not tan or have intense sun exposure 30 days before treatment.
-Waxing/threading must be done at least 48 hours before your appointment
-No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser or any other intense treatments 4 weeks before treatment.
-
The appointment typically takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours. We start with a consultation to determine the look you’re going for and discuss the best techniques for your skin. It’s also helpful to have reference photos of what you like and what you don’t like! Feel free to come in with brow makeup on so I can see how you normally do them. After our consultation, I will map out the ideal brow for your face shape with pencil. Once we agree on our outline, we numb the area and then start the tattooing process.

Powder brows are done using a tattoo machine to create a soft powered look within the brows. This technique is great for those looking for a more “makeup” look or who want more definition than microblading. Powder Brows can achieve a soft natural look or a more dramatic look depending on the clients preference. It’s also a great method for more oily and mature skin types, or those with very thin, yet coarse brow hair. Powder brows tends to last longer than microblading and fade more evenly over time than hair strokes.
-
Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo technique using a handheld tool to create strokes in the skin that mimic brow hairs. This technique can be used to enhance existing eyebrows or re-store lost or sparse brows. Microblading is meant to enhance your natural brows. If you have very thin brows or little to no brow hair, results can be more 2D and could require more than 2 sessions to achieve your desired look. Microblading typically heals best on normal to dry, healthy skin types.
Please note: I have decided not to do Microblading brows. I offer Nano brows that are the newest technique in the cosmetic tattoo field. By using a machine to create fine line hairstrokes. This technique is less traumatic to the skin, proven to work for a wider range of skin types and is proving to yield better healed results.

Brows are typically healed in 10-14 days. Your brows will look darker and bolder in color for the first few days, this is totally normal! Your brows will also flake/peel during healing, this is also normal and may appear like they’re fading too much or losing too much pigment. Trust the process and follow your aftercare instructions. After the new skin has healed, the pigment becomes visible and more vibrant again, usually around 4 weeks after your appointment. Your perfecting session will take care of any areas that may have faded more than desired.
-
Faux freckles are done in multiple sessions to gently layer in color, and build up density without having the freckles look symmetrical and blocky. The appointments go fairly quickly, and the healing process is very simple. Please bring in reference photos of what your overall freckle goals are. You will have to discontinue use of all skin care products, except for a mild face wash and aftercare product used as moisturizer.
-
Lip Blush is a gentle tattooing process that builds and layers color to balance shape, blend color, neutralize cool undertones, and give the overall illusion of fuller, healthier lips.
Pigment colors are custom mixed for your skin tone to give you a natural look with no makeup. Think of it as your own lips, but better!
-
Lip Blush results can be achieved on clients with melanin-rich lips, but multiple sessions may be needed to reach the desired results.
Clients with very darkly pigmented lips or those with very cool/blue undertones may not be the best candidates for lip blush.
If you would like to know if you’re a good candidate for Lip Blush, please email a clear photo of your lips to info@blupoodlepmu.com for approval before booking. -
In all honesty, the majority of my clients say that their lip blush procedure is less painful than their brows. The lips are very vascular and tend to numb even faster.
-
The healing process tends to be very similar to chapped lips. Ultimately everyone heals differently, but the majority of my clients have a gently chapped lip, followed by pale tones for a few weeks until the skin is fully rejuvenated and the color blooms back to the surface.

I will create the shape of your brows (or lips) based on measurements taken from your own face, never stencils.
I also ask for client's to arrive at their appointment with their brows filled in the way they prefer (if you usually wear makeup,) so that I can get a better idea of the shape & size you are comfortable with.
You will have input every step of the way, and we will not begin tattooing until you have approved the shape of your new brows. -
The tattooed area will appear thicker and darker than expected for the first few day after the procedure.
This will gradually lighten while the tattoo goes through the complete healing process. You can expect some dry skin and flakiness while your new cosmetic tattoo heals.
If you are familiar with healing traditional tattoos, you will find that healing cosmetic tattoos is very similar. You can view full aftercare instructions when you sign up for the Poodle Party.
-
No make up for 7- 10 days on any tattooed area.
-
Cosmetic Tattoos are considered Semi-Permanent, so they will fade over time and require a touch up every 1-3 years. Frequency of touchups depends on the client's skin, pigments used (lighter colors fade faster,) and other factors such as sun exposure, chemical peels & skin treatments etc. Lip Blush tattoos tend to last longer than brows, and can last 2-5 years before needing a touch up.
With that being said, it is a TATTOO! so you should feel positive about getting the service done.
The initial procedure followed by a touch-up procedure about 2 months later. Previously tattooed eyebrows may require one or two additional appointments and will require a consultation prior to first appointment.
Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each client's skin is unique; pigments can hold up or break down differently on every skin type. Your skin will be evaluated at the touchup appointment and any changes to pigment color can be made at this time.

You must be 18 years or older in the state of New Jersey to receive a tattoo.
-
Absolutely! We do recommend a 4 week resting period between Botox and any cosmetic tattooing procedure. This will ensure that the injectables have settled, and you will get the best eyebrow shape possible.
-
Yes! The same rules apply for filler as for Botox, you’ll want to wait 4 weeks before or after filler to get your lips tattooed.
-
While Lip Blush procedures are as gentle as possible, they can cause a cold sore outbreak in clients with a history of sores. If you’ve had any cold sores in the past, please consult with your doctor before getting tattooed. Taking an antiviral medication or supplement prior to appointment is highly recommended.
-
Absolutely! BUT, please make sure that you are AT LEAST 2-4 MONTHS HEALED from surgery before scheduling a tattoo appointment. Swelling can remain present for a few months after rhinoplasty, liposuction, face lifts, eyelid procedures etc, which can make it difficult for us to determine the proper design for your tattoo. Bruising and sensitivity while healing from surgical procedures can also make the tattoo process more painful for the client. Your appointment will need to be rescheduled if you are still healing from a surgery.
-
Unfortunately this is a hard no, unless in Paramedical Lip Tattoo procedures. Ultimately tattooing outside of the lip line will give an artificial look. Most clients do have more lip tissue than they do color, which allows for the lips to actually look fuller once colored.
-
-Always keep hydrated, drink lots of water before and after your procedure to help promote healthy skin and healing.
-Have a snack or meal before your session, getting tattooed on an empty stomach is no fun.
-Please do not ingest any caffeine, vitamin E, alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or niacin 24hr before (unless medically necessary). These can cause extra bleeding which can cause poor retention.
-Do not have fillers done 4 weeks pre or post lip session.
-Please use a gentle lip scrub at night 4-5 days prior to your appointment for 2-3 minutes. Follow with a thick layer of something extra hydrating for the lips, such as coconut oil, aquaphor, Shea butter or raw honey for 15 minutes.
-Avoid lipsticks 72 hours prior to your treatment, they can be drying to the lips. Use a nourishing balm instead!
-If you have had cold sores or fever blisters in the past, please contact your physician and get a prescription for Acyclovir. Begin taking this the day of your session as well as the following 4 days to avoid any outbreaks.
-
Immediately after the procedure your brows will appear darker and bolder than they will end up. Throughout the healing process, the color will fade. While some clients may like this, other may want a bolder look. You may heal spotty the first time, or have areas that lost pigment. At the second session, we can assess how you healed and how the pigment looks and then make any necessary changes. Those with more oily or problematic skin, heavy bleeding, or those with thin sparse brows may require more sessions to achieve their desired look (additional rates applied).

Unfortunately, no one under the age of 18 is permitted in the studio.
This is due to Health Department laws that we must abide.
We love kids, but please find a sitter for your child during your tattoo appointment!
If you arrive to the studio with someone under the age of 18, we may have to reschedule your appointment. -
When getting permanent makeup, it is a tattoo and therefore is a mild injury to the skin which takes time to heal.
If you are planning to go on a hot vacation involving sun, sweating, and swimming then make sure you give your skin two weeks to heal post treatment before showing off your newly microbladed brows, blushed lips or eyeliner on the beach and always protect with SPF. -
I take previous work on a case by case basis. An in person consultation is required.
-
My touch up pricing is for current clients only. If I approve your previously tattooed brows it will be new client pricing for the procedure.
-
A cosmetic tattoo does not effect your natural hair growth, you can continue using your preferred method of hair removal to clean up any stray hairs outside of the design.
-
Botox should be done a minimum of 14 days before your brow procedure or 14 days after. Botox takes 14 days to settle and take full effect, and microblading is typically healed within 14 days.
-
You should avoid the use of any skincare products with AHA/BHA, Retinol, Retin-A, Hydroquinone, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, etc. Prolonged exposure to these ingredients can lead to fading and pigment discoloration.
-
Tipping is customary, but entirely at your discretion, much the same as your hairdresser, massage therapist, tattoo artist, nail technician, etc.
-
Colors are selected partly by client style and preference, but ultimately it is based off the lip undertones and natural lip color. Lip Blush is meant to enhance your natural lip, and not look heavy like lipstick. You can always we are lipstick on top of your Lip Blush once they are fully healed.
